We continue to iterate in improving the new club website. The biggest recent change has been the introduction of calendar functions for club events. You will now see the following:

  • An 'Upcoming Events' section on the homepage, showing club events and club tournaments scheduled for the next 30 days.
  • A new Events page containing upcoming events for the next 90 days and a full month-by-month calendar which also shows scheduled club nights.
  • Clicking or tapping on any event or calendar entry will show additional event details, including links to external event listings if they exist. You can share a link to a specific event using the buttons at the bottom of the details panel, or can add that event to a calendar app (e.g. Google Calendar) by clicking the 'Add to Calendar' button.
  • Above the full calendar on the Events page is an option to 'Subscribe in calendar app', allowing you to subscribe to all current and future events in the calendar app or service of your choice, for example, Outlook, Apple Calendar, or Google Calendar. This is a great way of staying on top of club events.

In addition to showing Lichfield Chess Club events, event lists and calendars also show other ECF-listed tournaments and congresses with venues within 50 miles of Lichfield, giving you the ability to look ahead for regional chess events you might want to enter:

Note that Lichfield league fixtures are not included in events lists and calendars, as they would be overwhelmed by fixtures for the many club teams. Instead, when the season starts, browse or subscribe to fixtures for your team(s), browse to the League Chess page and then to the League / Division in which you play.
