After last year's very successful first season, we are inviting entries from any club member for this year. If you wish to take part please email me and cc David Fone who will be running it again. The deadline for entries is Thursday 27th August (the Quickplay night) and cannot be extended but if you are interested it will help David judge numbers if you reply much sooner.
The rules are the same as last year:
- Participants who must be at least social/junior members will play eight rounds starting in September, approx one game per month finishing in April.
- The tournament will be run using a Swiss Pairing System so you should play someone with a similar current score to yourself in each round.
- Time control will be all moves in 80mins with a 10sec per move increment ( the same as most local league games).
- Since games are ECF rated you must be an ECF member to take part and renew if necessary before the end of April (bronze membership is now £22, juniors £9.)
- David Fone will be the tournament controller and will submit results to the ECF and generate the pairings for each round.
- Players will arrange their own date and time and venue for their game but it must be completed by the deadline for that round so that the next round can be drawn.
- Results to be emailed to David on the day after any game.
This is a good opportunity for social members who may find league chess a bit daunting to dip their toe in the water. Any queries please let me know.
Thanks and regards,
John Fryer
