Three players who regularly play for Lichfield teams (or combined Burton & Lichfield teams) represented Derbyshire in the U2050 Counties Championship semi-final on Saturday 13th June. Richard Anderson (playing on Board 6), David Pickering (playing on Board 13) and Anushka Ramawickrama (playing on Board 14) all drew their games against higher-rated opponents.
Derbyshire were out-graded on every board, but the result looked likely to be close for most of the afternoon, until a flurry of late defeats meant that Yorkshire eventually won 10.5 - 5.5. George Burdell of Derby Chess Club was the only winner for Derbyshire.
