Clean-sweep for Cannock Division 4 side
Cannock & District Division 4
A clean sweep for Lichfield with a 4-0 Victory over Brewood.
Issac Adams, Black on Board 3, was the first to finish, and at lightning pace. Most other players had played only four moves by the time Isaac orchestrated a Queen + Bishop mate.
Next to finish, on Board 4, was Stuart Andrews, who had a comfortable time with White. His opponent didn’t give up until Stuart showed his experience and left him with only a King, before resignation followed.
On Board 2, Maurizio Baravalle, also with White, lamented that his opponent was a junior. Yet, in a youthful move of his own, Maurizio sacrificed his Knight for three pawns to build an unstoppable mating net!
Finally, on Board 1, Connor got off to a comfortable start, but an early mistimed King move let his opponent rip the position open and win a pawn. Connor held on until his opponent made an unfortunate Queen blunder. Though his opponent tried some interesting measures to hold, Connor’s position was greatly superior, and he expertly held the edge to win. (Match played: 1st October)
