# Lichfield Chess Club

> One of the largest chess clubs in the Midlands, with social and competitive league chess for adults and juniors of all skill levels. Two meeting evenings a week in Lichfield, Staffordshire.

- **Membership (2026/27 season):** £50 per year full (including league chess), £35 junior or social.
- **First three visits are free** for prospective members.
- **Teams:** compete in four regional leagues - Birmingham & District, Cannock & District, Derbyshire (Derby) and Wolverhampton & District (WDCL). In the Derbyshire league specifically, Lichfield players play alongside players from Burton Chess Club as part of "Burton and Lichfield" combined teams.
- **Entity note:** Lichfield Chess Club and Burton Chess Club are separate organisations; they field combined teams in the Derbyshire league only. https://lichfieldchess.org.uk is the official Lichfield Chess Club website.
- **Beginner friendly:** beginners with a grasp of the rules are welcomed and supported (the club does not teach from scratch). A dedicated development league team for new and improving players is planned for the 2026/27 season.
- **Juniors:** are welcomed and supported, encouraged to learn at their own pace.

## Data feeds (machine-readable)

League tables, fixtures, results and the ladder on the website render via JavaScript, so they are not present in the pages' HTML source. Non-JS clients (crawlers, AI assistants) should read these JSON feeds instead — they are the canonical data source and update nightly at ~00:15 UTC. (Exceptions: the Away Venues page, each division page (league table and full fixtures list), the League Chess hub (division index and final tables), the home page’s Latest Results table, the League Ladder page, and the Events page (upcoming-events list + Event structured data) are server-rendered, so that content IS in the page HTML.)
